Financial Adviser
Matt Isbister
Matt offers simple financial solutions that puts you and your goals first. While established brokerage and investment styles can often feel transactional, Matt’s friendly approach makes it easy to open up about your plans.
Matt has over 20 years’ experience in finance, including safely navigating his clients through the 1998 and 2008 recessions in New Zealand. He started his career at National Bank, before moving to ASB as a Mortgage Lender, later becoming the National Sales Manager leading a team of Financial Advisers for ANZ. He then moved to the South Island and joined SBS, firstly as Regional Manager and lastly, National Manager Mobiles and Alliances.
Matt graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce and Management from Lincoln University in 1997, and gained a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies from Massey University in 2012, with a with an endorsement in Personal Financial Planning. In 2016 he was authorised by the Financial Markets Authority to provide financial advice.
A proud Wellingtonian, Matt now lives in Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty, working with clients from all over New Zealand. Before meeting his wife and having their two lovely daughters, he lived all over the world including Iran, Singapore and New Zealand.

Janet Isbister
Janet steps back into Isbister Partners with a focus on our customer’s and on compliance. She has been referred to as the “back end of the business”, but with a human touch, keeping our customer’s happy and the business compliant.
She comes from a role leading a high performing team of branch staff at the TSB in Tauranga. She loves working closely with customers, taking time to get to know them, working through options, and helping them to achieve their goals. There’s no one that cares more about people than Janet.
Janet has had a varied career. Graduating from University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English and Anthropology, she then went to Japan to teach English. Studying anthropology helped her to gain a greater understanding of why people do the things they do. This has been invaluable when leading people, running a business and working with customers. She has over 10 years finance experience, working both in residential and business banking.
Outside of work, Janet loves spending time with her family and friends. Sport and exercise have always been a big part of Janet’s life. She has recently taken up mountain biking and is learning to surf. She also enjoys traveling and the odd glass of wine.

John Lewis
It may seem difficult to believe that this young face has spent most of his life in banking, but then again perhaps not. John joins the friendly team at Isbister Partners following 31 years as a career banker.
John’s career commenced as a bank frontline role through to moving into bank management at the ripe age of 26. He has also been responsible for managing a region up to 15 bank branches within the North Island, mostly in Auckland. John’s vast experience has taught him how to manage and support his customers through the ever changing, and often confusing and challenging, home lending process.
For over a quarter of a century John has helped make many of his customers dreams come true. The overwhelming excitement of supporting someone on their first home journey, or helping a growing family into a larger home, through to occasions of being there to help someone at their most challenging times. John prides himself on being honest, genuine and committed to providing you a solution. Experience teaches you that there are many options to consider, not just one. It is John’s plan to present you with these options to help you decide what is best for you.
John’s extensive experience has seen him provide lending support throughout the North and South islands. His career to date has seen him work across 4 banks within New Zealand which has been valuable in realizing that not all lending process and bank/lender polices are the same.
John has chosen to work as a mortgage adviser to specialise his skills, and knowledge and provide good old-fashioned service.
Something else John has learned is that it is not all about work. Outside of work John relishes every opportunity to spend time with his lovely wife and two young adorable boys. He can also be seen constantly cutting his two-acres of lawns upon his ride on mower, a bit like Forest Gump but he can’t run as fast.

I am a financial professional with over 10 years of experience both in the banking industry and as a Mortgage Adviser. I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a proven record of delivering exceptional customer service.

Graham Duston
Graham holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics and Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Otago University. He has over 35 years of investment management and financial services experience. Graham has previously held roles as CEO of SBS Wealth and the Lifestages KiwiSaver Scheme and as General Manager New Zealand for ANZ Funds Management and ANZ life. He has also held senior management positions with Tower Trust Services and Armstrong Jones.
Graham is an avid reader and enjoys exercising, travel and art. Graham is also interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI) especially where and how humans interact with AI, now and into the future.
